With all the noise, distraction, stimulation, and busyness of our lives (particularly around the holidays!), it’s easy to get pulled outwards and become disconnected from ourselves.

We can easily fall into the trap of looking outside of ourselves for answers, clarity, and guidance.

We can get caught up in chasing external validation, acceptance, approval, recognition, and love.

We can lose our power and give it away to people or circumstances, meaning they begin to rule us and determine how we feel each day.

We can end up on a path that doesn’t truly fulfil us if we’re always following the opinion’s thoughts, and expectations of others.

So, it’s more important than ever to have practices in our lives that tune us back in to ourselves.  Practices that draw our attention inwards, and help us reconnect with the power, wisdom, and love within us.

That’s why I love journaling so much.

It slows you down, and helps you create the space to hear the desires of your heart and the wisdom of your intuition.

It puts you back in your power, where you can once again feel in charge of your emotional wellbeing, thoughts, and decisions.

It helps you witness the fear, limiting stories, and self-defeating judgments of your mind so you can transform and re-write them.

It allows you to hold space for your inner being, and show deep love and support for yourself.

My journaling practice allowed me to step out of a life that was inauthentic and unfulfilling, and got me finally listening to my heart and embracing my higher self after years of running from it.

I’m so passionate about my go-to self-care tool that I want to encourage you to start a gratitude journal.  Every night before you go to bed, write a list of things that happened that day for which you’re particularly grateful.  Things like a rockstar parking spot, magical moments of serendipity, a fabulous meal, a laugh with a friend, or noticing an old pattern or trigger come up that offers you an opportunity to work your process.  A gratitude journal is also a wonderful way to keep a diary of your life.  I love looking back through my journal to reflect on past moments and celebrate lessons and blessings.

I assure you … it makes a huge difference!  Dozing off with appreciation in your heart will positively impact your quality of sleep and the state you wake up in.

So, get yourself a journal and cuddle up with gratitude!
